The Slow Fashion Market is held annually in Melbourne and Sydney. Sydney was held in June. Melbourne is coming up this August:

HOW MUCH ARE STALLS AND WHAT IS INCLUDED?

  • $330 per day for a 3m wide x 2m deep
  • $660 for a 6m wide x 2m deep

EXTRAS:

  • Corner upgrades, table, rack and chair hire, and electrical usage will be offered on successful application.

DO I FIT YOUR DEFINITION OF SLOW FASHION?

We want to encourage and support brands that are intentionally producing garments and accessories in ways that are kinder to the environment, their workers, and themselves.

Slow fashion expectations
There are a number of practices listed below that can be attributed to slow fashion. We don’t expect brands to be doing everything on the list, nor do we consider it a recipe they must follow. Instead, we just want to see that they adopt some of these practices and their intention going forward is to adopt more, and get better at the ones they’re already practicing. Slow fashion attributes can include:

  • Having an emphasis on quality, durability and robustness of garments and accessories.
  • Keeping the number of new styles and collections being introduced each year low and slow.
  • The label is a small-medium business, not a corporation.
  • Incorporating sustainable or locally sourced materials that are low/no toxins and pesticides.
  • The people making your clothing are paid fair wages for their labour.
  • Your workers are in safe work environments (no sweatshops, child labour, slavery and mistreatment of workers).
  • Having an ethical mission statement for your fashion business.
